pm: no burdensome tnb hikes

The PM has told TNB to provide an explanation over its proposed new electricity tariffs. 

According to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the government will NOT allow any excessive hikes that will burden the majority of people.  

TNB recently proposed a new tariff schedule for July 1st onwards, amid rising costs.

Terengganu has carried out its first public caning sentence, on a construction worker who was convicted of multiple khalwat offences.  

He was given six strokes of the cane at a mosque in Kuala Terengganu after Friday prayers.  

It was carried out in front of 90 witnesses, including reps from the state government, the Syariah court and NGOs.

1500 road accidents were reported nationwide yesterday, while the number of fatalities doubled from the previous day to 20.   

Since the start of PDRM's Ops Lancar operation for the year-end holidays, there have already been 6,400 accidents, and 63 accident-related deaths.

The government has pledged to support the Malaysians who were involved in last night's bus crash in Norway.  

According to Wisma Putra, a consular team has been deployed to provide them with immediate assistance.  

Meanwhile, the Malaysian embassy in Stockholm, Sweden remains in contact with Norwegian authorities to get the latest updates.  

The bus was reportedly carrying 58 people, including tourists from Malaysia, Singapore and China.  

Three people were killed and 4 others injured but for now their nationalities have not been confirmed.
