Jan 26, 2025

agencies to probe missing flood aid

Disaster management agencies have been instructed to investigate claims that over a hundred thousand flood victims have yet to receive their aid.

The Prime Minister’s senior political secretary says the PM himself has ordered the issue to be reviewed, adding that the government remains committed to ensuring that the aid reaches eligible recipients.

Meanwhile, floodwaters in Perak have subsided, leaving Sarawak as the only state still affected by flooding…with around 33 victims still seeking shelter at a relief center in Bintulu.

The JPJ has collected more than 12 million ringgit in outstanding summonses following its special offer of a 150 ringgit flat rate since earlier this month.

The Department says as of last week more than 83 thousand summonses have been settled.

-

Selangor police have arrested three people on suspicion of selling drugs during a new year’s countdown party in Sunway where four people had died.

-

Separately, KL police say yesterday’s anti-corruption rally in the city went ahead without any untoward incidents.

-

The Sabah Health Department says five individuals have suffered from toxin poisoning after consuming puffer fish in Kota Kinabalu and Kota Marudu over the past two weeks…although there’ve been no fatalities.

-

And, the Education Ministry says it will leave it to the police to investigate allegations that a 12-year-old student had been slapped and punched by a teacher in Perak last month…adding that it will cooperate fully with the probe.
