PM Denies 14% Electricity Hike

There will NOT be a significant hike in electricity tariffs later this year.
PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged that there will be a slight increase, but assured that it will not overly burden the community.
He was responding to reports that tariffs could go up by 14% starting in July.

Separately, Datuk Seri Anwar says the government has decided on a 2% EPF contribution rate for foreign workers.
This is lower than the 12% rate that was initially proposed.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia has reminded MPs to be on their best behaviour in Parliament, by serving the people instead of looking to gain cheap political points.
His Majesty said this in his royal address at the opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament today.

The govt has promised a thorough investigation into the recent shooting incident involving Maritime Enforcement personnel and a group of Indonesian nationals off the coast of Selangor.
The Home Minister also says that police have arrested a man with suspected links to the trafficking of migrants, to assist investigations.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail adds that for now, cops are NOT ruling out the possibility of drug or weapons smuggling..
One Indonesian was killed in the incident, which sparked a huge outcry in Indonesia.
