Security Tightened At Shopping Malls Nationwide

Security has been tightened at malls and public venues nationwide, in the wake of the shooting at a shopping center in Setia Alam over the weekend.
The IGP adds that security personnel and auxiliary police at these locations have also been instructed to be more alert to any suspicious activity.
He also urged the public not to speculate on the shooting, explaining that this would only worsen the situation.

Meanwhile, the Communications Minister is also calling on people to only trust official media sources for news about the Setia Alam incident…to avoid spreading fake news or misinformation.

The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia is concerned, that the lower entry requirements for a Nursing Diploma could undermine the profession.
It says the decision to ease the minimum qualifications to just three credits may affect the quality of candidates and also negatively impact the public perception about nurses.
As an interim solution, the association says it supports employing foreign nurses to address the current shortage, until local graduates are ready to join the workforce.
The Human Resources Ministry says any plans to hire Rohingya refugees to work in the local F&B industry, must take into account the country’s laws and policies.
It follows a proposal by a local restaurant operators group for them to hire Rohingyas…to help cope with a labour shortage in the industry.

The JPJ has issued over a hundred thousand notices for various traffic offences during its Chinese New Year Special Operation which ended yesterday.
Top of the list of offences were driving with expired road tax and insurance.
