Cops Out To Ensure Smooth Thaipusam Celebration

Police are out to ensure today’s Thaipusam celebration at Batu Caves goes smoothly.
Bukit Aman says its officers are stationed there around the clock to maintain security and an orderly flow of traffic.
Cops are also advising those who require assistance to visit the PDRM base which is available within the temple grounds.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, two Deputy PM’s as well as Cabinet ministers have taken to social media, to extend their Thaipusam well-wishes to the Hindu community.

A security industry group supports the Home Ministry’s recent call to improve training for security guards.
The Malaysian Security Industry Association told the NST…this will help personnel improve their skills and professionalism to cope with new and evolving threats.
This comes after the Home Minister called for review of the training modules for guards and auxiliary police who are responsible for security at shopping malls.
It follows the recent shooting at a Setia Alam shopping center last weekend.

In a separate development, police have received nearly sixty reports over a vending machine investment scam, that is said to have resulted in losses of over six million ringgit.
Cops are also urging the public to be careful about where they invest their money, and not to fully trust unknown third parties.

The flood situation in Sarawak has shown signs of further improvement, with the number of evacuees now down to just under 2,800.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s portal…there are currently also some one thousand victims seeking shelter at relief centers in Sabah.

Elsewhere, US president Donald Trump says the Palestinians who would be resettled in neighbouring countries under his plan to take over and rebuild Gaza…will not have the right to return to their homeland.
This, despite growing criticism of the Trump administration’s plan…which many say goes against international law.
