The NUTP has assured that schools are doing their best to eradicate vaping among students on school grounds.

However, it explained that teachers are facing various challenges in doing so, such as actually identifying the offenders, who tend to sneak off to less-supervised areas like inside toilets to vape.

This, after the Education Ministry said that students repeatedly caught vaping in school could be suspended for two weeks, or expelled

Provisions for house arrest are already included in the Prisons Act. 

The de-facto Law Minister says by law, the Home Minister has the authority to designate any house, building, or location as a 'prison'. 

This, as the government has indicated plans to draft a new law to allow house arrest as an alternative punishment for selected offences.

Two states are currently affected by floods.

According to the Social Welfare Department's portal, Melaka remains the worst-hit with over 300 evacuees at shelters there.

Meanwhile, just over 60 victims are displaced in Negeri Sembilan.

And Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is travelling to Saudi Arabia next week, where talks between Ukrainian and US officials aimed at ending the war are expected to take place.

This, after initial talks fell apart following a heated exchange between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump in Washington last week.
