RM40m To Fix Damaged Putra Heights Homes

Repair works will start this week for the homes that were affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion.  

According to the Housing and Local Government Minister, the federal government has allocated RM40 million for the repairs.  

Nga Kor Ming adds that another RM4 million has been allocated to fix damaged public infrastructure.  

The government expects the repair works to be completed by the end of the year.  

Meanwhile, the Selangor MB says the police have wrapped up the investigation to determine if there were any criminal elements in the Putra Heights incident.  

The report will be presented to the Cabinet within a week.

The relevant authorities will conduct regular monitoring, once the govt starts phasing out the chicken egg subsidy.  

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil says it's to prevent any disruptions in the supply or sale of eggs.  

Starting tomorrow, the egg subsidy will be reduced by half to 5 sen per egg, before it is removed entirely in August.  

Meanwhile, FOMCA has urged retailers to avoid any unnecessary price hikes once the subsidy is removed.  

The consumer rights group says any unethical price hikes would be an additional burden to many households who are still trying to cope with high living costs.

The federal government has confirmed that private healthcare facilities and pharmacies must display their medicine prices starting tomorrow.  

In a joint statement, the Ministries of Health and Domestic Trade and Cost of Living say the move will allow the public to make better-informed choices when spending on medicines.
