MOT Task Force To Probe Fatal FRU Crash

The Transport Ministry will set up a special task force to determine the cause of this morning's fatal road accident involving a lorry and a police FRU transport.  

The team has also been tasked with providing safety recommendations.  

This, after the Prime Minister called for a thorough investigation into the incident, that killed 9 FRU personnel.  

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he also wants appropriate assistance to be given to the victims and their families. 

Initial reports suggested that the lorry may have suffered a steering problem at the time of the incident.  

The lorry driver has since been detained to help investigations.  

According to police officials, the driver has a prior criminal record for narcotics.  

However, he tested NEGATIVE for drugs.  

Meanwhile, PDRM has urged people to avoid speculating on the incident, including the number of people who had died.
