Youth Council Against Higher Retirement Age
May 25, 2025

The proposal to raise the retirement age to 65 could have a huge socioeconomic impact on the nation's youth.
The Malaysian Youth Council says among other things, it would further limit job opportunities for the younger generation.
It pointed out that Malaysia produces 300,000 fresh graduates every year, and many of them already struggle to find permanent jobs.
The council also says that the raising of the retirement age to 60 in 2013 led to the loss of almost a million new opportunities for young job seekers.
