Health DG: No reports of Covid-19 cases linked to courthouse gathering
Aug 14, 2020
The Health Ministry has not received any reports of Covid-19 cases stemming from the large gathering outside the KL High Court during Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s SRC International trial verdict about two weeks ago.
At this juncture, the ministry has only seen cases linked to the Hari Raya Aidiladha visits, such as the Sivagangga, Kurau and Meranti clusters.
Earlier, several quarters had voiced their concerns over the gathering that were attended by thousands as there had been no attempt at physical distancing.
The HR Ministry says employers are now allowed to hire foreign workers who have been laid off by previous employers if they do not get any response from local workers.
However, the ministry urged employers to give priority to locals to fill these job vacancies and to ensure the foreign workers to be hired have undergone Covid-19 screenings.
It says employers can refer to the MYEG to view the list of foreign workers who had undergone the screenings.
A Nepali security guard, whose assault was captured in a viral video recently, has been charged with outraging the modesty of a woman on two separate occasions at an apartment in Gombak.
According to the FMT, the foreigner had claimed trial to both charges.
