Do not buy face masks sold below RM1!

Sep 17, 2020

Do not buy face masks that are priced below the ceiling price of RM1!

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has detected cheap face masks, some for as low as 50 sen a piece, which do not meet set quality standards.

It is advising consumers to be careful when buying such face masks to prevent the risk of being exposed to danger.

Meanwhile, the Ministry says it might introduce a regulation to ensure that only face masks that met the set standards will be allowed to be sold, to ensure the safety of consumers.

There are currently no plans to require bicycles to be registered and equipped with licence plates!

The Transport Ministry has denied claims that it plans to regulate bicycles adding that this issue has not been brought to its attention.

Earlier, the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety had suggested for such implementation, but the Ministry stressed that comments made by MIROS is not policy.

It says many factors need to be considered when drawing up policies with regards to this matter, including the health and safety of road users and pedestrians.

As such, the Ministry adds that it will continue to hold safety programmes for cyclists.

Malaysia’s confirmed Covid-19 cases has surpassed 10,000, after the Health Ministry reported 62 new cases, with the majority detected in Sabah.
