Penang car tragedy: Sole survivor out of coma

A college student, who was left unconscious after taking a nap in a parked car with 3 others, has regained consciousness!

The 21-year-old was put into a medically induced coma  to reduce the carbon monoxide levels in her blood.

In last Wednesday’s incident, her sister and two others died after sleeping in their vehicle at a petrol station in Butterworth, Penang.

There are no plans to postpone or cancel academic sessions at public unis and higher learning institutions nationwide.

The Higher Education Ministry says it doesn't intend to do so despite an increase in the number of Covid-19 positive cases especially in Sabah.

This is because the Health Ministry has already issued SOPs that must be followed by every institution nationwide to curb the spread of the pandemic.

It is mandatory for all individuals displaying Covid-19 symptoms, who have been to or were from areas designated as 'red zones” to get tested.

The Health Ministry says all others were strongly encourage to do so, even if they were not symptomatic.

There are five red zones in Malaysia - 4 are situated in Sabah, while one is in Kedah.
