Health DG: Sufficient supplies for Sabah to handle Covid-19 outbreak

The Health Director General has assured there are enough beds and medical supplies to help Sabah handle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says nine hospitals and 31 quarantine centers have been dedicated to treating infected patients.
It comes after the Sabah state government earlier voiced concerns that they’re running out of hospital beds amid the rise in cases.
Dr Noor Hisham also pointed out that although the number of cases in Sabah is high, the rate of recovery is also high.
Meanwhile, the Conditional MCO in Sabah was extended by another 14 days to November 9th.
This, as the state recorded 889 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, making up the bulk of the 1,228 new cases reported nationwide.
Yesterday also saw seven new fatalities, bringing the nationwide death toll to 221.
There were also six new clusters detected – in Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Selangor and Sarawak.
More schools closed
Meanwhile, some 177 schools located within Covid-19 red zones in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan will be closed until November 9th.

Lessons will now continue from home.
However, the Education Ministry says students at private schools who are sitting for exams during this period will be required to obtain a letter from their respective schools first.

Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says many failed to heed advice and rushed out - crowding banks and ATM’s when the last BPN payment was given out.

He says authorities will be stationed at banks to monitor the situation with members of the public also urged to take the necessary precautions.
