Budget 2021 has been tabled

Budget 2021 has been tabled in Parliament under the theme "Teguh Kita Menang Bersama".

Its the biggest federal budget in Malaysia’s history.

Finance Minister Datuk Sri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz says its to boost efforts to combat COVID-19.

Its also to help people recover from the financial impact of the pandemic. 

As such, RM1 billion will be allocated to curb the third wave of the coronavirus. 

The government also agreed to implement a one-off cash payment of RM500 to Health Ministry frontliners for all their sacrifices. 

Meanwhile, starting in January, EPF contributors who lost their jobs will be allowed to make a monthly withdrawal of RM500 from their Account 1 savings for a year. 

Also, the EPF contribution rate for workers will be reduced from 11% to 9%.

New COVID-19 cases still over 1,000

Malaysia reported 1,755 new COVID-19 cases today, three of which were imported cases. 

Two more people have succumbed to the coronavirus, raising the death toll to 279

No panic buying during Mukim 12 CMCO

There have been no reports of panic buying in Mukim 12, in Penang, as its Conditional MCO came into effect today.

Meanwhile state authorities have assured that there is enough supply of basic necessities during the order period.

It adds that it will take stern action against any businesses found hiking up their prices during the CMCO.
