The total number of Covid-19 cases around the world has now exceeded 50 million.

This, as October was the worst month of the pandemic so far, with a surge in cases in the US and parts of Europe.

The latest 7-day average compiled by Reuters also showed that global daily infections are rising by more than 540 thousand.

Meanwhile, back home the number of new coronavirus infections nationwide dropped back down to triple-digits with 852 new cases reported yesterday.

Four additional fatalities were also reported, bringing the overall death toll in Malaysia to 286.

More clusters detected

Two new Covid-19 clusters have been detected – including one that spans across three states.

The Health Director-General says the Ikhtisas cluster involves the Petaling and Klang districts of Selangor, Jeli in Kelantan and Seremban, Negeri Sembilan…with 22 people in total testing positive.

Meanwhile the Berendam cluster involves the Alor Gajah district in Melaka, where eight individuals tested positive.

Probe begins in Melawati crash

Air Accident Investigation Bureau has opened a probe into yesterday’s twin chopper crash in Taman Melawati, with an initial report to be ready in 30 days.

It says the two helicopters did not have black boxes as they are light aircraft, with the investigation to rely on the statements of the two survivors.

Two people died while two others sustained injuries, after two choppers collided in mid-air, causing one to crash while the other made an emergency landing.
