Malaysia's death toll now at 318

Five more patients have succumbed to COVID-19 today, raising the death toll to 318.

Meanwhile, Malaysia reported 1,210 new COVID-19 cases, 19 were imported cases. 

Sabah recorded the highest number with 499 infections, followed by 271 in Selangor, and KL with 245.

Malaysia’s crime rate drops amid COVID-19 pandemic

Police have denied claims alleging crime in Malaysia has risen due to an increase in job losses during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

They say crime rates this year have dropped 23% compared to the previous year. 

The enforcement of movement control restrictions, coupled with a rise in police presence is likely the reason for the dip in crime.

Kids to get fewer shots under new immunisation schedule

The government has announced a new national immunisation schedule, which will see kids needing fewer shots. 

The Health Director General says under the new schedule, kids will only need to get five vaccine shots, instead of seven.
