There are calls for the EPF’s Account 1 withdrawal scheme to be expanded, to cover those hit by salary deductions.

It is currently available only to those who’ve lost their jobs, have been put on unpaid leave, or are without a source of income.

However, Pandan MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail says the scheme should also be expanded to those who’ve been hit by pay cuts of up to 25 percent.

The MTUC has also made a similar call in an interview with Sinar Harian…urging the government not to neglect those who are being forced to work for less pay due to the pandemic.

More Covid-19 cases at workplaces

Employers are once again being urged to ensure proper accommodation and working conditions for their workers, to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Zoo Negara facing financial crisis

An official says the National Zoo, which has suffered a massive loss of revenue due to Covid-19, only has enough emergency funds to last three months.

He says they’ve not been making enough to cover their monthly operating cost of around 1 million ringgit.
