Nov 22, 2020

Malaysia has yet to receive any official data on the various Covid-19 vaccine trials being conducted overseas.

The Health Director-General says even though some vaccine companies have been reporting high success rates, the government needs more details and cannot rush to buy a vaccine based on reports alone.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah adds that currently not a single pharmaceutical company has published its phase three clinical trial data.

Meanwhile, one of the US companies that claims to have developed a Covid-19 vaccine says it will charge governments between 25 and 37 US dollars per dose, depending on the amount ordered.

Selangor accounts for most of the new coronavirus cases

1,041 new Covid-19 infections were reported yesterday, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 12,854.

Selangor accounted for the bulk of yesterday’s cases with 402 new infections, most of which came from the Teratai factory cluster.

The government is not ruling out the possibility of expanding the ban on the sale of liquor at grocery stores and Chinese medicine shops to other states, besides the Federal Territories.

The Deputy Minister in the PM’s Department for Religious Affairs says they’ve received positive feedback on the ban, including from non-Muslims.
