Starting today, the 14-day quarantine period for overseas travellers entering Malaysia will be decreased to 10 days.
The Health Ministry says the decision was based on the latest scientific evidence and practices in other countries.
1,229 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, with the bulk of them coming from Selangor and Sabah.
KL, Johor, and Perak also recorded more than 100 new infections.
Meanwhile, the 1,309 recoveries exceeded new cases, bringing the total active cases down to about 13,000.
Enhanced MCO restrictions will be lifted in several localities in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Ipoh, Perak.
However, the EMCO at a factory worker dormitory near Taman Klebang Jaya, Ipoh, will continue until next Monday, while Ipoh and Chemor will also remain under CMCO until this Sunday.
