Will we have New Year countdowns this year?

Authorities are still waiting for clarification from the National Security Council, on whether New Year countdown events can be held outdoors amid the ongoing pandemic.
The Johor police chief says for such events are NOT allowed, because it's not easy for cops to control big crowds.
He adds that police will strictly monitor any countdown events in restaurants, to ensure that SOPs are being followed.

Another day, another 4-digit rise in COVID=19 cases
1,220 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Malaysia today.
According to the Health Ministry, Selangor had the highest number of cases, at 368, followed by KL and Sabah.
3 people died of the virus, raising the death toll to 432.
Meanwhile 3 new clusters were reported, in KL and Sabah.

Khairy: Govt securing more vaccines
The govt is still looking to secure other sources of COVID-19 vaccines, in addition to the doses that have been ordered from US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin told the Dewan Rakyat, these vaccines are current in the third phase of clinical trials.
Khairy also said that the govt is open to the suggestion for MPs to be the first recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine, to help convince Malaysians that it is safe.
