The Sabah Fisheries and Fishing Boats Joint Association has proposed that 1 or 2 security personnel be on board at least 30% of the 300 fishing vessels at 3 sea areas.

It adds it wants the security personell for boats in Lahad Datu, Kunak and Semporna, which have often been targeted by cross-border criminals, recently.

Its chairman says following the frequent kidnappings in Lahad Datu and Semporna, crew members don't dare to go out to sea.
