BNM denies banknote rumour

Bank Negara has denied reports, that it will issue new 1, 5, 50 and 100 ringgit notes starting next year. 

The central bank says contrary to a viral message being spread on WhatsApp, the current series of banknotes will continue to be circulated as legal tender.

The message claimed that Bank Negara would start circulating the new notes in January, rendering the old cash worthless.
