Government denies report about chocolate spread
Jan 17, 2017
The government says reports, claiming that a popular hazelnut chocolate spread contains cancer-causing elements, is a distortion of facts.
The report by the European Food Safety Authority had claimed that the palm oil used to make the spread is linked to cancer.
However, the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister pointed out that the chemicals mentioned in the report are present in all vegetable oils, including olive oil, and are NOT proven to be cancerous.
