Red Stage rain alert for parts of Johor and Pahang

Jan 25, 2017

A Red Stage heavy rain alert is currently in effect in parts of Johor and Pahang.

The Met Department says this continuous heavy rain is expected in Segamat, Kluang and Mersing in Johor, and in Rompin, Pekan and Kuantan, in Pahang throughout today.

Meanwhile, the department says an Orange Stage alert is in place for other areas in the two states, as well as in Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Terengganu.

This, as some 14 thousand people are still seeking shelter at flood evacuation centres nationwide.

Johor remains the worst-affected state, with 9,400 victims, while the number in Pahang stands at just over 3 thousand.

The remainder are in Kelantan, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Selangor, Terengganu and Sabah.
