Magistrates, judges and prosecutors will be given special training...

Apr 05, 2017

Magistrates, judges and prosecutors will be given special training to handle child sexual cases, to ensure the smooth launch of the Special Crime Court.

The PM's Department will also be holding a meeting with the new Chief Justice to discuss the setting up of the special court.

This, after the Special Offences against Children Bill was passed in Parliament yesterday.

This means children under the age of 18 will now be regarded as competent witnesses, while those who keep quiet about child sex offences will be fined 5,000 ringgit.
