Foreigners owe government hospitals 50.5 million ringgit.

Apr 17, 2017

Foreigners owe government hospitals 50.5 million ringgit in outstanding medical bills accrued between 2012 and last year.

The Health Ministry says most of the offenders were illegals who do not have valid residential addresses, which makes them hard to track down.

The govt is currently seeking the help of foreign embasies to track down the foreigners, while also reaching out to employers.

The Ministry was responding to a recent report saying foreign nationals from 38 countries owed HKL about 7.9 million ringgit in medical bills over the past few years.
