There are no plans to increase the penalty for a lost MyKad.

Jul 05, 2017

There are no plans to increase the penalty for a lost MyKad.

The National Registration Department was addressing concerns raised by the recent hike on the charges imposed on lost passports.

The NRD says raising awareness is more important, as hiking the penalty fees to process a lost MyKad will not tackle the root problem.

Currently, those who lose their MyKad for the 1st time will have to pay 100 ringgit, then 300 and 1,000 ringgit every time after.
