The national fertility rate last year is the lowest ever recorded since Malaysia was formed.

The fertility rate per woman aged 15 to 49 were 1.9 babies last year.

Meanwhile, last year, the most popular names for Malays were Muhammad Harraz Naufal and Ainul Mardiah.

While the Chinese preferred Yu for boys and Xin for girls, and the Indians were keen on Sharvin and Harshini.
