NUTP: we are against it.

The National Union of Teaching Profession Malaysia is against a proposal to abolish school expulsion as punishment for problematic students.

NUTP's secretary-general says the school is an institution to educate and requires effective regulations to save students from negative elements.

He adds that the punishment should be retained, and says that it's still relevant for students with disciplinary problems.

The proposal was earlier mooted by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.
