Lawyers and professionals: Please clearly define what constitutes fake news.

Mar 27, 2018

Lawyers and professionals want the govt to clearly define what constitutes fake news in the Anti-Fake News Bill 2018.

The bill carries an extremely heavy penalty of a maximum fine of half a million ringgit or 10-years' jail upon conviction.

The bill as been slammed as extremely vague, while there are concerns it will affect the way the media report the news in Malaysia.

The proposed penalties under the Anti-Fake News Bill 2018 was tabled at the Dewan Rakyat for first reading yesterday.
