The Anti-Fake News Bill has been passed by the Senate.

The Anti-Fake News Bill has been passed by the Senate just a day after it was passed by the lower house of Parliament.

Media, human rights and lawyer groups have voiced concerns about abuse and restrictions to the freedom of speech...,

but Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said assured the bill is only aimed at stopping the dissemination of fake news.

The bill sees a 6-year jail term and half a million ringgit fine for maliciously spreading fake news.
