7 people are fighting for the Umno president's post - the highest number in the party's history.

The full name list was not revealed, but the final list of eligible candidates for the 30th June party elections will be announced today.

Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin threw his hat into the ring on the last day of nominations yesterday, promising to revamp Umno.

This includes accepting new members unconditionally and allowing members to criticise leaders without the fear of expulsion.

Among others, Khairy will be going up against acting president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and party veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah for the top post.
