News Wrap-up: Thailand cave rescue resumes, court to deliberate on Sabah CM issue

Jul 09, 2018

Thailand Cave Rescue Resumes Today

The operation to rescue nine people still stuck in a flooded cave in Thailand resumes today.

The group of 12 teenaged footballers and their coach had been stranded for over 2 weeks, but four were rescued last night.

According to Bangkok Post, the football coach was one of those take out last night, as he was in the worst condition having given the boys his share of the food before they were found.

Cave diving expert Jason Lim says the rescue operation will not be easy.

"Basically they would have to go through a crash course, where they have to train inside the cave and will be assisted by experienced divers all the way out. The main concern is that they are very new and have zero scuba diving knowledge, let alone cave diving."

Meanwhile, Space X Founder Elon Musk says the mini-submarine he had made for the rescue operation is already on its way to Thailand and will arrive tonight.

The 31cm-wide tube will be capable of manuevering the narrowest parts of the cave, but it's unclear if it'll still be needed by the time it gets there.
