Lombok earthquake: Death toll up to 14.

The death toll from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake which struck Lombok, Indonesia yesterday has risen to 14, with 1 of them a Malaysian. 

Lecturer Siti Nur Ismawida Ismail was in Lombok to climb Mount Rinjani when she was crushed to death by a wall. 

Haziq Wafiy, one of her friends on the hiking trip told Astro Awani, Siti failed to escape when the house they were in collapsed.

Several others in the group of 18 were seriously injured. 

The DPM has promised the govt will bring Siti's remains home as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, our authorities are still trying to determine how many Malaysians are there and how to get them home.

Contractor: that is not the case !

The contractor that employs the janitors responsible for cleaning the KL Court Complex has denied its workers went on strike because they were not paid. 

Judges and staff had to roll up their sleeves yesterday and clean the complex, amid claims that the cleaners have not been working since May.

The contractor has promised the situation will be rectified today. 

Minister promises thorough investigation

The Health Minister has promised to investigate allegations of sexual abuse against housemen by an orthopaedics department head in a hospital in the Klang Valley. 

The report by The Star also claimed several house officers were bullied.
