The MACC confirmed, the ex-Prime Minister will be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.

It comes after he was summoned by the anti-graft commission for further questioning yesterday, over the 42 million ringgit scandal.

Datuk Seri Najib is also set to appear in court today for the mention of three earlier Criminal Breach of Trust charges and another for power abuse, that were mounted on him last month, also related to SRC International.

Sales Tax Bill-Passed

The Dewan Rakyat has passed the Sales Tax Bill, following its second reading by the Finance Minister.

The bill was approved, after the opposition tried, but failed, to get the debate at the commitee stage to be handed over to the Select Commitee.

Earlier yesterday in Parliament, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng also alleged that the refunds for GST were frequently delayed, because the money had instead been taken and spent by the previous BN government.

Separately, the Economic Affairs Minister has clarified that he did NOT meet officials from Singapore's Transport Ministry over the weekend, to discuss cancelling the High Speed Rail project.

Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, however, says a date has already been fixed for formal talks, and he will be in touch with his Singaporean counterparts soon.

Haze ?

The haze could be back soon, as farmers in Indonesia have reportedly started their slash-and-burn activities again.

According to The Star, about 40 hotspots were detected in Kalimantan as of Monday, most of them close to the Western border of Sarawak.

The ASEAN Meteorological Centre also says winds are strong enough to potentially send some of the smoke over to the Peninsular.
