Datuk Siti Rahmah Kassim dies

Mar 25, 2017

Independence fighter Datuk Siti Rahmah Kassim has died of old age at 91.

She's regarded as an unsung hero in Msia's fight for freedom from the British, and once famously offered her gold bangle, to help fund Tunku Abdul Rahman's trip to London to negotiate our independence.

She was also the first woman to contest in the 1959 general election, winning the Terentang state seat in Negeri Sembilan, which she succesfully held for two consecutive terms.
