Thai woman retracts rape allegation

A Thai woman who accused a Malaysian immigration officer in Melaka of raping her has done a U-turn, telling her embassy the incident did not occur.

Thailand's Foreign Ministry says the 32-year-old woman has denied the sexual assault as well as accusations that separate rooms were used for recording the statements of her and her friends.

The immigration officer was remanded for 3 days following the accusation, while the woman and her friends are currently at a shelter in Johor.
