New govt policies may lead to a ban on 24-hour eateries

The Malaysian tradition of eating out past midnight may come to an end.
A Cabinet committee is reportedly looking at several new policies to promote healthier living.
it's also aimed at combating non-communicable diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
Among the proposals, is for eateries and restaurants to stop operating after midnight, which will be carried out in stages.
The committee also wants to impose a tax on sugary drinks.
According to the NST, the government will also ban advertisements on food and drinks with high fat, salt and sugar content, especially those that target children.
