Changes to Anti-Fake News Bill Wording

Mar 29, 2018

The govt has made a couple of changes to its Anti-Fake News Bill.

The PM's Dept says the proposed maximum penalty will be reduced, from 10 years to only 6.

However, there's no word on whether there will be any change to the current maximum fine, of half a million ringgit.

Also, the bill now says it is a crime to "Maliciously' create and spread fake news, instead of 'knowingly'.
