Police to conduct a thorough review on airport security
Feb 16, 2017
The police will conduct a thorough review to decide if there is a need to improve security procedures at airports.
This follows the death of a North Korean man at KLIA 2, believed to be the half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
The authorities are reportedly planning to install new technology at airports and also increase personnel deployment.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings has boosted security at KLIA 2 following the incident, with more plainclothes police officers present.
It has also promised to fully cooperate with the police in their investigations into the death, including providing the footage of the CCTV cameras at the airport.
This, as HKL has completed the post-mortem on the remains of the North Korean man.
However, the authorities have declined to reveal any details on the cause of death or when the remains would be claimed from the hospital.
A female suspect holding a Vietnamese passport has been arrested, suspected of assassinating the man.
