Trainee doctors to be given counselling before starting housemanship

Feb 15, 2017

Trainee doctors will be given counselling before the start of their housemanship, to prepare them for the workload and stress.

The Health Ministry says the move is to address the problem of trainee doctors who go missing without a trace due to stress.

Trainee doctors will also be given the choice of completing their housemanship at other hospitals, if they face problems.

This, as 20 to 30 percent of medical graduates fail to complete their housemanship each year due to stress.
