The Sexual Offences against Children Bill 2017 is tabled in Parliament

The Sexual Offences against Children Bill 2017 has been tabled for first reading in Parliament.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman says the second and third reading of the bill, will be done during the current parliamentary meeting.

Key provisions in the proposed new law include making child sexual grooming an offence, as well as defining sexual assault as both physical and non-physical.

The Bill also specifies that failure to report a child sexual abuse case is a punishable offence, with those found guilty liable to a 5 thousand ringgit fine.
