Government conducting study on starting salary

Apr 04, 2017

The Human Resources Ministry is conducting a comprehensive study on starting salary.

It says the aim of the study is to see what is being done to address the disparity in graduates' starting pay, compared to the rising cost of living over the past 20 years.

It says based on its observation, the starting pay is currently about 2,000 ringgit a month, compared to 1,800 about 20 years ago, which is a mere rise of 200 ringgit.

The findings of the study are expected to be published in six months time.
