No need to panic over Influenza A H1N1

Apr 18, 2017

The Health Ministry says there's no need to panic over Influenza A H1N1, as it's no longer considered an epidemic in the country.

However, pregnant women and the elderly are advised to take extra precautions if they have flu-like symptoms.

This, following the death of a pregnant woman from the virus in Terengganu last week.

A relative of hers has also tested positive for H1N1, while authorities are waiting for tests to determine if two pre-school students in Cheras also contracted the virus.

Separately, the Ministry has launched a one-stop centre for health-related data, gathered from public and private hospitals.

The Malaysian Health Data Warehouse will provide an intergrated database, allowing healthcare providers to make more educated decisions for treatment.
