Government set to introduce a new law

Jun 09, 2017

The government will introduce a new law to protect Malaysians from cyber threats.

The Deputy Prime Minister says the draft of the bill has already been handed over to the Attorney General, before its tabled at the next Parliament sitting.

Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the government is serious in combatting cybercrimes, including recruitment and financing of terrorist groups, money laundering and online gambling.

He adds that the National Cyber Security Agency will also be placed under the umbrella of the National Security Council, and will coordinate all efforts to manage such threats.
