ATM services not affected by ransomware attacks

May 17, 2017

The Associations of Banks in Malaysia says social media rumours about ATM services being affected by ransomware attacks, are not true.

It says member banks have confirmed, that their online banking and ATM services are all operating as usual.

The association also explained that some ATMs around the country may experience occasional down-time, but this is due to normal maintenance issues.

Seperately, the National ICT Association of Malaysia PIKOM, says its one-thousand-plus members have not reported being hit by the WannaCry ransomware.

It adds that members have also not alerted the association about any of their clients being infected.
