Wisma Putra confirms no Malaysians were affected by Jakarta suicide bombings
May 25, 2017
Wisma Putra has confirmed that no Malaysians were affected by last night's suicide bombings in Jakarta.
However, the embasy says our nationals there should remain vigilant, and try to avoid public spaces.
In related development, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the recent terror attacks in Mindanao and Jakarta are linked to the killing of Malaysian IS militant Mohamad Wandy Jedi in Syria.
He also cautioned that we need to remain on alert, to prevent such attacks from happening in Malaysia.
He adds that our security personnel are also working closely with our regional neighbours and with Interpol, to combat terrorism.
Meanwhile, Sabah police are on high alert for any attempts by militants in the Southern Philippines to slip into Malaysian territory.
This, after the Philippines declared martial law in Mindanao, to help in the fight against IS-linked militants.
The cops say the situation there remains under control, although security will be beefed up along the east coast of Sabah.
