Authorities ready to face possible Abu Sayyaf attack
Dec 18, 2016
The Deputy Home Minister says the authorities are on alert and ready to face any possible attack by the Abu Sayyaf militant group.
This, after one of group's leaders was killed when Malaysian security forces foiled a kidnapping attempt in the waters off Semporna earlier this month.
Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed says he is not ruling out the possibility that they would launch attacks to seek revenge.
3 suspects were shot dead during the incident, while another 2 were detained and 2 others managed to escape with one kidnap victim.
