Government urged to set up special department to implement water safety

The government has been urged to form a special department to implement water safety and drowning prevention measures.
The National Water Activity Safety Council says the measures can include frequent audit of water activity areas, and fencing up disused mining ponds.
It adds that there should also be a comprehensive database with statistics and information on drowning cases.
