Government urged to establish national policy on CCTVs
Jan 21, 2018
The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation has proposed that the government establish a national policy on CCTVs.
It says billions of ringgit have been spent for CCTVs to be installed everywhere, but none of them follow any regulation or policy to help crime prevention and criminal investigations.
It adds that a policy to regulate CCTVs has been implemented in developed countries like Japan, South Korea and the UK.
This, as Selangor's police chief says broken and poorly maintained CCTVs have previously hampered police efforts in resolving cases.
